The voice will not be recognizable at first, “Doh touch me/doh hold me.” You will begin to get a sense of who the singer is as the song continues, “Doh hold me/Doh squeeze me.” By the time you get to the next line, “Carnival time/Carnival, Carnival, Carnival time” you will know the singer stirring your soul is none other than the 2011 Groovy Soca Monarch Ricky T and his “Going Down De Road”. The song is written by Ricky Joseph and Courtney “Curty” Louis who produced the track for his Dutch Productions/Stratosphere Muzic label; it is featured on the Saint Lucia Carnival 2013 Jump Over Riddim. This is grown up groovy music that will make you sit back and appreciate the musical range of Ricky T, a 5 time Road March King and 3 time Power Soca Monarch who is better known for his ability to stir a crowd into a frenzy than for stirring your musical soul with melody. That knowledge will not keep you from “Going Down De Road” however, as he takes a “whine, whine, whine…”
