Mongstar - I've Been Waiting
"I have been waiting/ anticipating/ waiting for a rag/ waiting for a flag." This is power soca hot out the kitchen as prepared by the Dutch Productions/Stratosphere Music studio in Bois D'Orange Castries.
A competition number designed to move stadium, fete and the road, Ah Been Waiting is written by Marley "Mongstar" James and produced by award winning songwriter and producer Courtney "Curty" Louis.
Written and soon to be performed in a manner that allows both performer and audience to mash up and "give trouble" -- Ah Been Waiting captures the reveler spirit that lies dormant -- waiting for Carnival to explode.
The music will move your feet and waist -- Mongstar's use of patois and imagery will make your heart move the rest -- if you love Carnival, truly feel the spirit of bacchanal, then lift up your rag, show me a signal because your thirst for power soca is about to be quenched so you won't have to wait anymore.
Sergia - Ah Drunk
Now ladies, its Carnival so I want you to get it good and if that means you have to have more than a few that's fine as long as you're doing it to this power soca track from Sergie. Ah Drunk is written and produced by award winning songwriter and producer Courtney "Curty" Louis and was recorded, mixed and mastered at the Dutch Productions/Stratosphere Music studio in Bois D'Orange.
It is the first power song released by Sergie, the 2011 Piton Soca Starz winner -- a woman who is determined to stamp her foot and wave her hand to leave a mark in this arena.
Full of passion -- the lyrics in Ah Drunk are as apt as the conversation a very inebriated Sergie is having with herself. Now let's be honest -- who among us has not swayed on the left side and then to the right, losing sense, shoes and purse in a good Carnival mash up? To be clear -- Sergie is not advocating you do this on a regular basis, in fact, she says
"When Carnival done, I not drinking rum/ But until that time, pass that bottle of rum."
She just wants to make sure that on the last lap -- you get it real good so raise the bacchanal and glass -- take a sip of this gem for Saint Lucia Carnival 2012 -- Ah Drunk indeed.

This year we More Mad -- for soca monarch, on the road "It cuda rain/it cuda storm/ it cuda lightning coming down" -- with or without alcohol or woman -- the party cannot be stopped. Written by Jonathan "Jay Budz" Mathurin, More Mad is produced by Courtney "Curty" Louis for Dutch Productions/ Stratosphere Music. Starting off deceptively slow -- it gains momentum while allowing you space to catch your breath in the middle of the insanity this song will build inside you. With his customary "Madhouse" cry -- Jay Budz is taking you with him on this next step in his musical journey. Although he has released a number of songs this year -- some of them accompanied by other more seasoned artistes, More Mad is an introduction to mash up power soca -- that force which sustains Carnival. Becuase while it's nice to have a groovy beat to chip and whine to at the right time -- nothing can move feet and waist like a power tune, especially one that encapsulates the sometimes unholy reaction Carnival can illicit. More Mad will take you to that place you need to be while describing your state of mind -- a symbiotic blessing made possible by one Mr Jay Budz.

Precision sets off on this melodic expedition, with an inventive and inspired crew of writers and performers who have all worked together to create a memorable musical adventure.
Destra Garcia reaffirms her place as the Caribbean’s beloved bad girl in her vocally exhilarating performance of “Carry On”, while showing off her writing skills together with Mical “Teja” Williams and Kasey Phillips in this lyrical declaration of pure gyrating fun.
In “Gone Clear” Teddyson “TJ” John uses his exciting singing talent to tell the tale of the intense emotions that colour the Carnival canvas every single year. The energetically thrilling song was written by TJ himself, Patrick “Mista Vybe” Gordon, as well as Kasey Phillips and is a delectable invitation to enjoyment that no masquerader could deny.
“D Wetter D Better” is sure to be a favourite of those with a more wicked imagination. This cheeky number was cleverly penned by Patrick “Mista Vybe” Gordon and Kasey Phillips. The mischievous feel of the track is flawlessly executed by Wenhal “Alpha” Gerald who tantalizes listeners with a vibrant salute to the art of plumbing.
Communication between generations is at times a difficult challenge, however, in true majestic style Kenny Phillips skillfully collaborates with Kasey Phillips in a father-son composition designed to drive brass aficionados absolutely wild. Aptly named “Brass Fuh Spite” the tune is played by KP & The Sunshine Band, and showcases why the Phillips household will forever remain a foundational member of the Caribbean’s musical landscape.
